Abiding Equals Overcoming

“And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy
brethren.” Luke 22:31-32

Has your sin opened the door for satan and defeat? God is able to restore and refresh if we will repent, returning to Him by faith. Every believer can relate. At some point we have all sinned against our LORD after He saved us. The LORD has been gracious and we must never take His grace for granted! (Galatians 5:4; Hebrews 12:14-15)

Today is a new day!

“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. 7Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 10Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” James 4:6-10

If we want sin and the devil to GO we must get down LOW. STUDY diligently all that God has told us concerning the essential of true humility that pleases God – and get down lower and lower and lower! Die and let Him raise you upward! – “Ye are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:3) Memorize this holy and essential truth today. Say it aloud until you have it memorized!

“Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;” Psalms 103:1-3

Overcoming sin comes in the benefits package of knowing, following, and abiding in Christ (John 15). If sin is taking root and having it’s way in my life, it’s because I am not presently abiding. This is that divine red light warning on the dashboard of my life, urging me to repent and change my ways before it’s too late. God will not allow any person to overcome in outside of pressing in to know Him. Jesus died to be one with all who are ruly is – relationship – and not just to save them from the lake of fire.

“And this is life eternal (the whole purpose for it), THAT THEY MIGHT KNOW THEE the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” John 17:3

“And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;” Philippians 3:9-10

All who know Him are willing to “daily” lay down their own lives and will do so in order to walk with Him (Luke 9:23-24). As they cry out for the LORD to increase, dying to self, the resurrection power of the Holy Ghost raises them upward in His divine power, granting them total victory over sin, satan, and this world system (John 3:30). These are His true Heaven-bound remnant and they are not neutral but rather for Christ and fruitful in His work.

“Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 11For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest our mortal flesh. 12So then death worketh in us, but life in you.” 2 Corinthians 4:10-12

Friends, we need Jesus – today! Yesterday’s victory is in our past and does not assure victory today. Abide this moment beloved! He’s there fore you as “a very present help in trouble.”

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalms 46:1
