Those who add to the simplicity of the original Gospel pervert the true Gospel and are as Paul said to the Galatians (1:6-9). Go read the book of Galatians afresh beloved.
The true remnant are continuing “steadfastly in the apostle’s doctrine” and not adding to it in any way (Acts 2:42). If the apostles didn’t preach – are not on record as preaching something – then we must not preach anything different than what they preached or we will certainly pervert the original Gospel. The temptation among those who lean to their own understanding is to try to help God out by adding things to His Gospel and the requirements He has set forth.
Perhaps this is just another insidiously antichrist way that men can feel as if they merit salvation. It is also a way that men can feel as if they are better than others who do not do the things they prescribe which raises the bar and adds to the requirements the LORD set forth.
“Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?” Galatians 3:3
