“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:15-16
One disciple writes: “No matter where you hide it, God can see it. You can never build your own temple. You will never achieve holiness on your own. Without God, we are nothing, a closet full of junk. Call on God today, let Him have His way. It will change your life.”
The LORD commands us to “be ye holy” and He alone can and will bring this to pass in our lives as we are truly submitted to Him in the daily cross (1 Peter 1:15-16). Let’s face it – be honest – we have all failed the LORD. Not one of us has perfectly died to self, right? So, let’s begin with honesty in casting off the façade we have hidden behind as some “great man of God” or “great spiritual woman of God.” We know better than that. There is a great LORD and God of broken men and women but not really “great men/women of God.” What’s the point? – that Jesus is all in all and we are complete in Him alone (Colossians 2:8-10). His kingdom is all about Him and it’s His righteousness alone that makes us right with God and not our own goodness or some feigned greatness (1 Corinthians 1:29-31; 2:1-5; 2 Corinthians 1:9; 3:5; Galatians 6:14).
The power of the Holy Ghost and the death of self in the daily cross experience is God’s only answer (Romans 8:13-14).
“Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?” Galatians 3:3
The verse below will offer a powerful prayer for “the spirit of holiness.” – This is a beginning prayer. Let’s begin afresh “in the spirit” just as the moment when He found and saved us, and never again seek to be “made perfect by the flesh.” (Galatians 3:3) Remember that our past is just that – our past. The Word says to forget the past and “press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ.” (Philippians 3:13-14) Praise God for His compassions which fail not but are new every morning, GREAT is his faithfulness! (Lamentations 3:19-22)
“And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to THE SPIRIT OF HOLINESS, by the resurrection from the dead.” Romans 1:4
Father, please forgive my sin of self-idolatry. I repent now – I turn my life over to You this moment. Father, please forgive all my sins and iniquities in Jesus’ name. Right now, if never before, I lay my life in Thine holy hands. Take my life as do as You please LORD Jesus. Amen.
